<b>Duties</b><br /><br /><b>Summary</b><br /><br />You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST in the AIR T&E SQUADRON HX-21 DIVISION, INTEGRATED SYSTEM EVALUATION, EXPERIMENT & TEST DEPARTMENT of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV.<br /> Learn more about this agency <br /><br /><b>Responsibilities</b><br /><br /><ul> <li>You will perform Communications Security (COMSEC) functions such as receipt and disposition of controlled cryptographic items (CCL), inventory, configuration management, inspections, audits, and COMSEC briefing/debriefings.</li> <li>You will receive and sign for COMSEC materials and equipment from the NTWL EKMS account and monitor the procedures for destroying message traffic whenever Communications Material System (CMS) equipment is in operation.</li> <li>You will conduct audits and investigations of CMS security violations or potential compromises and determine cause and impact to national security.</li> <li>You will conduct training in CMS procedures, and provide guidance to Command and ITT personnel who have access to COMSEC information.</li> </ul> <br /><br /><b>Travel Required</b><br /><br />25% or less – You may be expected to travel for this position.<br /><br />Supervisory status <br /> No <br /><br />Promotion Potential <br /> 4 <br /><br /></li> <b>Requirements</b><br /><br /><b>Conditions of Employment</b><br /><br /><ul> <li>Must be a US Citizen.</li> <li>Must be determined suitable for federal employment.</li> <li>Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.</li> <li>New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. You will be subject to random testing.</li> </ul> <br /><br /><b>Qualifications</b><br /><br />Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or DA-3 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: knowledge of the laws, regulations, and guidelines related to securing personnel, facilities, and information, including the requirements for handling, transporting, and protecting classified information and proper reporting of security incidents. Examples of specialized experience include: 1) Developing Communications Material System (CMS) security procedures to schedule and conduct security program work; 2) Interpreting and applying broad CMS security and special policy directives (i.e. Federal, DoD, Navy, Joint and other agency) and ensuring compliance for receipt, distribution, reproduction, inventory, and destruction of materials; 3) Conducting inspections and examinations of CMS repositories, operational sites, and records of CMS transactions to determine if they are maintained according to established procedures; 4) Analyzing and evaluating reports of investigations containing conflicting information and prepare reports to make necessary recommendations.<br /><br />Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management web site: http: www.opm.gov/qualifications/Standards/group-stds/gs-admin.asp .<br /><br />Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Regular and recurring physical exertion is required, such as long periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, crawling, and similar activities while conducting audits and inspections. Performance of work may take place in confined spaces, such as when auditing or inspecting CMS equipment onboard HX-21 aircraft. Lifting and carrying moderately heavy objects of 50 pounds or less is required when receiving and issuing CMS equipment.<br /><br /><b> Work Environment </b><br /> Work is performed primarily in and around the HX-21 hangars, laboratories, flight lines, and offices in settings in which there is regular and recurring exposure to moderate discomforts and unpleasantness, such as high levels of noise and high temperatures. Much of the work takes place in confined spaces, such as flight lines, hangars, the CMS vault and on HX-21 aircraft. Travel to and from various test team facilities both on and off base by automobile is required.
