The incumbent coordinates the evaluation, selection, training and performance review of laboratory accreditation assessors and technical experts. Interacts with assessors, technical experts and laboratories in implementing the laboratory accreditation process. This position requires knowledge of metrology, testing and laboratory accreditation requirements of relevant national and international standards. Must have knowledge in metrology and test methods as well as experience with assessor selection and evaluation.<br /><br />The incumbent must be able to assess calibration and/or testing laboratories to determine compliance with relevant national and international standards as defined by the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) handbooks. Requires knowledge of assessment techniques and the assessment of laboratory developed quality systems. Requires knowledge of relevant national and international standards that may impact on testing and calibrations.<br /><br />The incumbent will implement technical and operational requirements and criteria for the assessment and evaluation of laboratories for accreditation for specific test methods in specified fields of testing; directs determination of laboratory competence through on-site assessments and proficiency testing. Specialized experience is defined as experience assessing calibration and/or testing laboratories to determine compliance with relevant national and international standards.
