<b>Duties</b><br /><br /><b>Summary</b><br /><br />The General Services Administration, Office of Inspector General is seeking a General Investigator to join our team. The position will be located in the Office of Investigations' Operations Division at our Headquarters office in Washington, DC.<br /><br />Learn more about this agency <br /><br /><b>Responsibilities</b><br /><br />As a General Investigator you will:<br /> <ul> <li>Conduct investigations on complex matters involving civil violations of law and administrative rules and regulations relating to GSA programs and operations including those involving Whistleblower retaliation by Contractors; Pre-employment screenings; Qui Tam lawsuits/False Claims Act violation; Trade Agreements Act violations; and Contractor Disclosures. The incumbent may also be required to assist with criminal investigations.</li> <li>Perform investigative activities including interviewing witnesses and subjects of investigation; assisting on search warrants; serving warrants; serving judicial process such as subpoenas and summons; and obtaining and preserving evidence.</li> <li>Present investigative results orally to clients such as U.S. Attorneys for determination of prosecutorial merit.</li> <li>Prepare written reports of investigative activities and final reports of investigation pursuant to OIG guidelines.</li> <li>Establish and maintain liaison with investigative and legal personnel in the other Offices of Inspectors General.</li> </ul> <br /><br /><b>Travel Required</b><br /><br />Occasional travel – Applicant must be able to acquire and maintain a government-issued travel charge card.<br /><br />Supervisory status <br /> No <br /><br />Promotion Potential <br /> 13 – GS-13 <br /><br /></li> <b>Requirements</b><br /><br /><b>Conditions of Employment</b><br /><br /><ul> </ul> <br /> <ul> <li>Background security investigation required</li> <li>Applicants must be U.S. Citizens</li> <li>Applicants must apply online via USAJOBS (see "How to Apply" section)</li> </ul> <br /><br /><b>Qualifications</b><br /><br /><strong>You qualify for this position at the GS-13 level (starting salary $96,970) if you possess the following</strong>: One full year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 level, that demonstrates:completing various aspects of an investigation involving criminal, civil, or administrative violations; planning and conducting investigative activities with both internal and external factors; developing factual information and supportable data and materials; and, collecting and confirming source information; having contacts with other investigative agencies and officials; written communication skills are a must at this grade level. Applicants must be qualified and equipped in conducting investigations and participating as a member of a team within such an environment. There is no educational qualification requirement for this grade level.
