Software Engineer – IoT – Mobile & Cloud Computing

Due to their continued commitment to developing new cutting edge/next generation products they are seeking an experienced Software Engineer who will serve as valued member in developing and supporting IoT mobile and cloud applications for a suite of highly advanced products that are continuing to be heavily invested into. The incumbent will also be involved in all stages of the development life cycle, from initial concept generation through to final delivery and support as a valued member of the engineering team.

Day in the Life:

Build highly scalable, distributed services for the IoT cloud platform

Conduct analysis, configuration, administration, support and ongoing maintenance of the IoT platform

Lead IoT cloud projects which will include testing, deploying and testing all aspects of an IoT solution

Design and develop automated test capabilities for the IoT and app testing

Design and develop software tools to test the embedded systems and IoT systems that include, mobile application and cloud based backend server software

Assist with troubleshooting and resolving IoT device solutions

Research and deploy new tools and technologies to build a sustainable IoT platform

Participate in new product (proof of concept) ideation projects with regards to the IoT platform and mobile applications

Work closely with the Electrical Engineering design team and product engineering teams in integrating mobile app and cloud to product’s controls

Work with others in Marketing, Product Engineering, Test Engineering and Sales as the technical resource for the iOT and mobile technologies

Interface with various hardware and software vendors on complex system integration tasks to achieve efficient, cost-effective IoT platforms

Requirements and Desired Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering is preferred, but not required

Minimum of two (2) years’ experience with deployment, configuration, administration and ongoing support of backend IoT SW based on cloud platforms like AWS, Azure

Minimum experience of one year with the administration of backend servers for high performance mobile or web app stacks

Minimum of two (2) years of software development and test experience for the connected devices

Minimum of one year experience in at least two of the common coding languages. C/C++/Objective C, Java, VB Script, JavaScript, Python, etc.

Experience with product/system validation testing of embedded controls that are part of IoT ecosystem

Deep experience writing test plans and test scripts

Working knowledge of Wi-Fi, ZigBee, and other wireless technologies

Knowledge of and/or experience with networking protocols used in data communication systems

Experience in working with remote data via third-party APIs and JSON

Knowledge in one of the communication methods like MQTT, CoAP, Google Pub/Sub, RESTful API

Knowledge in provisioning, commissioning and remote device management in the context of IoT

Experience with a bug tracking system such as JIRA

Experience with a software configuration management tool such as SVN or similar

Experience with automated test platform like Selenium/Appium or similar frameworks

Passionate about learning new technologies and creating innovative solutions

Ability to work with minimal supervision and to participate and contribute positively in work teams

Demonstrated initiative and ability to complete projects, document work and communicate clearly both in writing and verbally

Lead and participate on cross-functional teams to ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of processes and methods

Innovative, creative, and an “outside-the-box” thinker who enjoys problem solving

Ability to multi-task and effectively manage multiple initiatives simultaneously

Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and analytical
