Reporting to the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, as General Counsel you will provide legal guidance on a wide range of commercial and corporate matters spanning all areas of the business. The right candidate will have a proven track record of integrating the legal function tightly into the Company’s operations, building strong partnerships with business leaders and providing advice that balances continued growth with appropriately managed risk. Principal functions include assessment of legal risks and working proactively to promote solutions that manage risk and accomplish business objectives, evaluating and negotiating transactions, as well as overseeing data privacy and corporate compliance. The General Counsel will put an emphasis on customer focused solutions and will drive operational excellence in the delivery of legal and compliance services.
Oversee all legal matters of HID Global including, but not limited to commercial/government contracts, regulatory/legal compliance, data privacy, insurance, licensing, litigation, patents, trademarks, acquisition due diligence and employment related items.
Advise senior management on a broad range of matters including identifying areas of legal or compliance risk and providing mitigating solutions.
Manage and guide a diverse global team of legal and compliance professionals.
Manage the selection and use of outside counsel and develop strategies for litigation and regulatory proceedings.
Anticipate potential legal risks within the organization and develop corresponding strategies that provide pragmatic solutions.
Position is based in Austin, TX
JD degree from a recognized U.S. law school, or foreign legal equivalent, and currently licensed to practice in at least one state bar.
15+ years of legal experience with prior relevant in-house experience as a General Counsel, or other legal leadership position, with a focus on risk analysis and mitigation.
Strong knowledge of Software as a Service, cloud hosted solutions and software licensing.
Proven leadership/management skills to oversee a diverse global team.
Demonstrated track record of understanding how legal issues affect organizations and providing pragmatic business solutions.
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to create and sustain lasting relationships with stakeholders.
