Under the supervision and direction of and in consultation with the General Counsel and Assistant General Counsel, this attorney is responsible for providing legal advice and counsel throughout the organization in support of a variety of areas as assigned, predominantly regarding health law regulatory compliance and healthcare transactions matters. Provides legal support, guidance, advice, and risk assessment in support of a variety of areas as assigned, predominantly regarding healthcare regulatory complianceincluding, Stark, False Claims Act, Anti?Kickback Statute and other fraud and abuse laws, antitrust laws, EMTALA, and HIPAA/privacy, healthcare transactions, research compliance, and conflicts of interest matters. Assists with internal and external federal, state, and industry regulatory and compliance activities, including, internal and external regulatory, accreditation, and/or licensure inquiries and/or investigations. Assist with ensuring that policies, procedures, programs, and contracts of the hospital and its affiliates comply with applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Assist with identification, investigation, and resolution of regulatory and compliance issues for the hospital, including identification of significant risk areas and scope of audit review.
Minimum Experience Required: 7-10+ years of substantive experience in providing healthcare regulatory and compliance advice and counsel. The ideal candidate will have in-house experience and foundational training obtained in a reputable law firm.
Minimum Education/Training Required:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Experience with a multitude of healthcare areas of law, including managed care billing, HIPAA, anti-kickback, Medicaid, and Medicare is required.
License, Registration, or Certification Required:
Must currently be a member of good standing in a U.S. State Bar without any disciplinary history and no encumbrances to being licensed to practice law in California. If not currently a member in the California Bar, must have the ability to be admitted in the California Bar as registered in?house counsel.
