The UNC School of government seeks to hire a tenure-track assistant professor of public law and government to specialize in local government contract law. The faculty member will focus on the following core substantive areas:
The faculty member will write for, advise, plan courses for, and teach a wide range of North Carolina local officials, including purchasing officers, city and county attorneys, city and county managers, legislators, legislative staff, citizens, the media, and others interested in these legal topics. Work is centered in Chapel Hill, but requires occasional travel and consultation around the state. Faculty appointments are year-round (rather than for the 9-month academic year).

|Qualifications and Experience||
Excellent writing skills, strong academic background, and a commitment to public service required. A record of, or demonstrated potential for, teaching, advising, and scholarship required. Work experience in identified legal specialties is desirable, but not required. Master’s degree in city and regional planning or a related field is desirable, but not required.
