The Facilities Engineer/Manager is responsible for inspecting, maintaining and ensuring repair of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems to ensure optimal operating results. The successful candidate will oversee the organization’s facility operations, manage office moves, develop intermediate and long-term actions to relocate the organization to meet mission expansion while ensuring day-to-day interior and exterior maintenance work is complete IAW installation contract. This person will ensure work remains in compliance with local, state and federal regulations. Plans and implements the design of offices to maximize the use of available space and improve production efficiency. Estimates costs related to layout design, including equipment and materials, labor, etc. and monitors the construction process. Researches production/processing equipment or fixtures for purchase and gathers data relating to their ability to meet organizational needs. Ensures that established efficiency and safety targets are met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Must be adept with the Air Force facility management processes and procedures as well as be able to work with the various stakeholders to develop an Air Force Military Construction (MILCON) request and GSA lease agreements
Will perform planning and design work for new construction, renovations, and improvement projects for existing and future real property facilities
Shall understand physical requirements associated with accredited Secure Compartmented Information (SCI) Facilities
Shall coordinate all design phases with appropriate stakeholders, managers, and staff elements.
Coordinate system repairs and monitor system performance
Execute equipment audits and record-taking policies
Coordinate with the Director of Capital Projects on the implementation of new building projects
Ensure compliance with all safety and security protocols
Manage the overall services provided within the facility
Create a suitable environment for the purpose and needs of the facility
Use best business practices to manage and reduce operation costs
Create a budget for various facility needs and expenses
Compare costs for various services and goods before choosing the best options for the facility
Manage the maintenance of the building by performing repairs or contracting maintenance services as needed
Track building upkeep as well as anticipated long- and short-term improvements and maintenance
Interview and hire certain facility employees and contractors, as required
Handle certain administrative tasks, such as preparing reports for facility owners
Ensure the security of the building by researching and implementing various security measures, such as surveillance cameras follow Government security regulations
Respond to emergency situations or other urgent issues involving the facility

8+years of experience in real property facilities engineering and management working in Air Force Civil Engineering
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline preferred. Relevant work experience and training may be considered in lieu of a degree, like Office of Personnel Management’s (OPM) Crediting Combinations of Education and Experience standard
Must have a Top-Secret clearance
Must be a U.S. citizen
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. May include lifting weigh up to thirty (30) pounds as necessary.
Position requires a Top-Secret clearance
