Corporate Counsel – Labor & EmploymentThis position does not require relocation to FloridaThe Corporate Counsel position will be a member of the Hertz Law Department and its Labor & Employment practice group, reporting to the Assistant General Counsel, Labor & Employment. This position requires 25% to 50% travel. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Being a trusted advisor who provides prompt, accurate and ongoing counsel to internal clients on a wide range of labor and employment matters, including union, grievances and arbitrations, contract negotiations, employment litigation, and administrative and regulatory mattersDeveloping and maintaining strong working relationships with corporate and local operating management, HR staff and union leadersRepresenting the Company in unfair labor practice, labor arbitration, and administrative agency proceedings, including witness preparation, case presentation, and the preparation of post-hearing briefs and other written productsDirect, hands-on management of sophisticated employment litigation matters arising under Federal, State and local lawsAbility to negotiate labor contracts throughout the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, if requiredDrafting and reviewing corporate policies to ensure legal compliance

The successful applicant must possess:J.D. degree from an accredited university Membership in good standing in the Bar of at least one U.S. state and able to become certified as Authorized House Counsel in Florida on applicationMinimum 5 years’ experience as a practicing labor and employment attorney with a corporate in-house legal department, private law firm, and/or government agencyPrior work experience under the National Labor Relations Act, in arbitration and litigation, and in union representation disputesSome experience as a labor contract negotiator in contract costing procedures, drafting collective bargaining agreement provisions, and negotiations principlesExperience providing practical, timely, and strategic counsel on employment mattersSuperior communication and interpersonal skills, including an ability to lead through collaborationA strong work ethic and a proven ability to meet deadlines on multiple projects simultaneouslyAbility to operate in fast-paced environment with a very high level of autonomyAbility to read, write, and fluently speak and understand the English language. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.Excellent PC skills, including proficiency in Excel
