This is food service work involving a high level of customer service, food preparation, serving, clean up, and related duties in a school kitchen. <br /><br />An employee in this class performs varied food service duties in preparing and serving meals to students, staff, and visitors. The work requires attention to proper food safety and sanitation procedures. The worker will follow specific instructions and procedures, and refer new or unusual situations or problems to others.<br /><br />Graduation from high school and at least one (1) year of school nutrition experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the following knowledge, abilities, and skills: <br /><br />Excellent customer relations skills. Working knowledge of school nutrition regulations, current food safety standards, and sanitation standards. Ability to read, interpret, and communicate to others understanding of standardized recipes and other technical documents. Ability to perform varied food service work including food preparation, serving, clean up, and cashiering. Ability to open and close operations using computerized systems. Ability to enter orders using online ordering systems. Ability to receive food and supplies following established procedures. Ability to take and enter inventory following established time frames. Ability to direct operations using established work schedules. Ability to cover manager for brief periods of time.
