The Associate Corporate Counsel, Global Privacy plays a pivotal role in supporting the development and implementation of Jazz Pharmaceuticals’ Global Privacy Program with the goal of promoting compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). The position reports to the Chief Privacy Officer and supports the Global Privacy Program through providing guidance and support on privacy-related legal issues, preparation and review of privacy documents across the organization as well as working with the Data Protection Officer to coordinate responses to data subjects’ requests. In addition, the position will help manage the vendor privacy and security risk management process in collaboration with Information Security, partner with colleagues in other business units to implement privacy-related processes, policies and procedures, and monitor and report to management on privacy and data protection issues. Essential Job Functions:The Associate Corporate Counsel, Global Privacy will: Provide guidance and support for the business and corporate functions for privacy-related legal matters, including but not limited to handling inquiries, incidents, and privacy risk/impact assessments, including Data Protection Impact Assessments.Work in collaboration with key stakeholders in the development and maintenance of processes and procedures to maintain compliance with Jazz privacy policies, as well as applicable privacy and data protection laws and regulations.Manage and work with the Data Protection Officer and the business to support the process for handling data subjects’ rights requests.Assist with managing the privacy and security risk management process for vendors and business partners, including conducting and reviewing vendor due diligence, supporting in the contracting process and assisting and monitoring the vendor’s ongoing compliance with privacy-related legal requirements.Advising on new and emerging legal and regulatory developments impacting data privacy and data security, including identifying trends and potential impacts on the business’ activities.Support fellow members of the Legal department on global legal/privacy issues and projects.Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesExcellent legal judgment and the ability to provide pragmatic and strategic legal advice to the business.Ability to interact professionally with all levels of management, multiple geographies, internal subject matter experts, legal staff and vendorsAbility to work both independently and collaboratively, with a record of developing strong working relationships across the organization.Ability to prioritize and complete daily workload and projects with minimal supervision and in accordance with deadlines and shifting prioritiesExcellent writing, proofreading, and editing skillsStrong verbal and written communication skills.
