The Senior Corporate Counsel (Immigration) is responsible for providing full service immigration services related to work visas and permanent residency sponsorship. The incumbent will manage and supervise in-house immigration processes, while serving as an expert advisor to managers and foreign national employees on all immigration matters. This role may also support periodic employment matters.
Manage audits and responses to requests for information;Prepare and file documentation with respect to visa transfers and all others associated with the permanent residency process;Advising internal clients with respect to all pending and active immigration matters;Monitor and apprise the Legal Department and other business partners on legislation, regulations, case law and provide proactive, strategic advice on such matters;Engage directly with clients as well as partner cross – functionally with internal teams to guide compliance and legal parameters surrounding client requests;Develop company policies and procedures as well as guide the successful implementation; andTake on additional assignments and responsibilities as needed.
Minimum of 7-10 years of business immigration experience;Excellent writing, organizational and research skills;Highly developed written and oral communications skills;Extensive knowledge of immigration laws and practice;Advise Inovalon Hiring Managers regarding immigration matters; Experience advising business clients on H1-B, TN, OPT, visas as well as PERM I – 140 and I – 485 applications;Ability to work in a fast paced environment, manage a high-volume workflow and meet demanding deadlines;JD and an active member of a state bar in the U.S.;History of being a team player and willingness to contribute wherever needed;Ability to anticipate and proactively identify potential risks to the organization; andExperience serving on advisory corporate committees.
