What General Information Do I Need To Know About This Position?
The incumbent serves as a team leader for the Offshore Renewable Energy Team. As the team leader, the incumbent provides direction, instructions, and guidance to the other members of the ORE Team, and oversees, reviews, and supports their activities and work product in the provision of legal services to BOEM and BSEE.
As an Attorney-Adviser with the Department of the Interior, Office of the Solicitor, Division of Mineral Resources, located in Washington, DC your specific duties will include:
The incumbent leads a team of attorneys serving as legal advisors to the Secretary through representation of the Assistant Secretary, Land and Minerals Management (ASLMM), the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) and the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) on matters concerning the offshore renewable energy and alternative use of existing facilities programs. As such, resolving complex and novel legal problems and questions concerning the statutes, treaties and regulations regarding offshore renewable leasing (including auction procedures), approval of plans for site assessment or construction and operations, financial assurance, and the enforcement of regulations to assure safe and environmentally sound operations. As time permits, the Leader may be called upon to handle matters relating to offshore conventional energy resources.
