<b>Duties</b><br /><br /><b>Summary</b><br /><br />The Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board (FRTIB) is looking for a highly qualified and motivated individual to serve as a Administrative Support Specialist.<br /><br />This Job Opportunity Announcement (JOA) may be used to fill other Administrative Support Specialist, GS-0301-9 positions within the FRTIB in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.<br /> Learn more about this agency <br /><br /><b>Responsibilities</b><br /><br />This vacancy is also being announced concurrently with vacancy announcement <strong>FRTIB-AS-037-MP-</strong><strong>10540862</strong>under Merit Promotion procedures. Please review that announcement to see if you are eligible for consideration under Merit Promotion procedures. <strong>NOTE</strong>: <strong>Applicants must apply separately for each announcement in order to be considered</strong>.<br /><br />The major duties of the position are: <ul> <li>Manage the administrative functions for the office, including coordinating and arranging telephone and equipment installation and repair, overseeing space and furniture issues, and maintaining and ordering office supplies and equipment.</li> <li>Receives and screens incoming telephone calls and visitors, determines the identity of the person and the nature of their contact, and determines which contacts must be referred to the Director, should referred to other staff or another organization, or can be taken care of personally</li> <li>Compiles and organizes essential information and materials for the Director in advance of appointments, and ensures that senior officials are briefed on matters to be discussed and considered before scheduled meetings.</li> <li>Updates and maintains office budget and financial records, including expenses for supplies, travel, procurement, and information technology.</li> <li>Applies knowledge of personal computers and various software applications to accomplish work activities, including preparing written materials and presentations, reviewing and distributing electronic messages, tracking action and suspense items, and maintaining databases and automated records.</li> </ul> <br /><br /><b>Travel Required</b><br /><br />Occasional travel – You may be expected to travel for training purposes.<br /><br />Supervisory status <br /> No <br /><br />Promotion Potential <br /> 9 <br /><br /></li> <b>Requirements</b><br /><br /><b>Conditions of Employment</b><br /><br /><ul> </ul> <br /> U.S. Citizenship is required.<br /><br />All qualification requirements must be met by 07/30/2019. If selected, you may be offered tentative employment until the background investigation has been fully adjudicated. <br /><br /><b>Qualifications</b><br /><br />To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the specialized experience* as described below:<br /><br /><strong>Specialized Experience:</strong> Experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position typically in or directly related to administrative work, and is equivalent to the work performed at the next lower grade level.<br /><br />The Specialized Experience is defined as experience equivalent to the GS-07 in the federal service, which involves (1) experience interpreting and applying administrative policies and procedures to provide accurate and timely guidance to supervisors and employees; (2) using evaluative and analytical methods to perform program management duties and complete project tasks; (3) drafting written correspondence to convey information and guidance on administrative processes and procedures; (4) consolidating budget and meeting materials for management review; and (5) using an automated time keeping system to input data and generate time and attendance reports.<br /> <strong>OR</strong><br /> A master's or equivalent graduate degree;<br /> <strong>OR</strong><br /> 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree;<br /> OR LL.B. or J.D., if related<br /><br /><strong>Experience / Education Combination:</strong> Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. To compute, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 36. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years by 60. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify.<br /><br />*Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (i.e Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.<br /><br />A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. The category assignment is a measurement of the degree in which your background matches the competencies required for this position.
