<b>Job Announcement</b><br /><br />Two positions will be filled with this job announcement.<br /><br />Position is located at Stepping Stones (formerly BPH), located at Page Avenue, Fairfax, VA, a community-based residential treatment program for adolescent males (ages 14 to 18) who are court ordered into the program. Primary goal is to assist the client and family in addressing the underlying issues that brought them to the attention of the Stepping Stones program, and increase their ability to accept personal responsibility through therapeutic treatment. Provides direct sight and sound supervision to client in the milieu. Conducts psycho-education, process, and support groups. In addition, coordinates recreational and community activities for the clients, and provide case management support in connecting clients to resources. Assists the primary and family counselors with treatment goals and planning on an as needed basis. Ensures facility operation and building safety, maintenance, and security, on evening, overnight, and weekend shifts as assigned. Ensures the health care and physical well-being of clients through appropriate disbursement of medication and administration of first aid. Operates a 15 – passenger van and transports residents and families to a variety of community activities.<br /><br />Positions are considered essential employees for continuity of operations in emergency situations and inclement weather.<br /><br /><strong>NOTE:</strong> The salary offer for the position will not exceed the mid-point of the advertised salary range.<br /><br /><b>Employment Standards</b><br /><br /><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</strong><br />Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in social/behavioral sciences, law enforcement, or education.<br /><br /><strong>CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:</strong><br />Must have a valid driver's license. The following certifications must be obtained within a specified time frame after appointment and recertification annually thereafter: First Aid and CPR; and Handle With Care (physical restraint procedures and techniques) within 30 days. Medication Management within 6-months.<br /><br /><strong>NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:</strong><br />The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a check of the Child Protective Registry, a driver's license check, and a medical examination to the satisfaction of the employer prior to employment. A TB screening upon hire and annually thereafter. <br /><br /><strong>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</strong><br />A bachelor's degree in social science, behavioral science, education, or a closely related field. A minimum of one year of full-time professional experience providing supportive counseling to adolescent males, preferably in a residential setting. Experience doing case management, treatment planning, and using evidenced-based practices such as Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Expressive Arts Therapy, Solution-Focused, and trauma-informed interventions. Bilingual in Spanish and English written and verbal communication. Excellent interpersonal skills. Knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office software computer software, especially Word, Excel and Outlook.<br /><br /><strong>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</strong><br />Job is generally sedentary in nature, however visual acuity is required to read data on computer monitor, incumbent must be able to operate keyboard-driven equipment. Must communicate with others clearly in English, in person, in writing, and on the telephone. Must have the ability to move through the facility to make frequent checks on residents and maintain safety and security. The ability to physically restrain any youth between the ages of 14-18, the ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
