<b>Duties</b><br /><br /><b>Summary</b><br /><br />The IT Specialist (Data Management) position will be located in Information and Technology, AIT-001, Chief Data Office, ADO-001.<br /><br />Learn more about this agency <br /><br /><b>Responsibilities</b><br /><br />The Chief Data Office (ADO) focuses on the opportunities, threats, capabilities, and gaps related to managing FAA information as a strategic asset and potentially a liability. They leverage data and information for decision-making, engage industry, manage information for operational efficiency, and manage risk inherent in massive and fast changing data resources through effective governance.<br /><br />We are looking for a savy Data IT Specialist to join FAA's CDO team. If selected at the I band, the incumbent will be responsible for expanding and optimizing our data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross functional teams. The ideal candidate is an experienced data pipeline builder and data wrangler who enjoys optimizing data systems and building them from the ground up. The incumbent will support our software developers, database architects, data analysts and data scientists on data initiatives and will ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects. They must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products. The right candidate will be excited by the prospect of optimizing or even re-designing our company's data architecture to support our next generation of products and data initiatives.<br /><br />In addition, they will be responsible for the following:<br /><ul><li>Creating and maintaining optimal data pipeline architecture.</li><li>Assembling large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.</li><li>Identifying, designing, and implementing internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.</li><li>Working with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.</li><li>Building the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and Apache NiFi and other ‘big data' technologies.</li><li>Working with one or more object-oriented/functional programming and scripting languages: Python, Java Scala etc.</li><li>Building processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata and lineage</li><li>Facilitating ADO outreach efforts to promote modern data analytics tools and techniques.</li></ul><br />In addition to the above duties, if you are selected at the J band, the incumbent will be responsible for the following:<br /><ul><li>Creating data tools for analytics and data scientist team members that assist them in building and optimizing FAA's data infrastructure</li><li>Working with data and analytics experts as the FAA SME to strive for greater functionality in our data systems.</li><li>Building analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into safety, operational efficiency and other key business performance metric</li></ul> <br /><br /><b>Travel Required</b><br /><br />Occasional travel – The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis.
