<b>Duties</b><br /><br /><b>Summary</b><br /><br /><strong>About the Position:</strong> Serves as a Health Technician (Dietetic) in the Nutrition Services Department (NSD) of a major military medical treatment facility (MTF) with responsibility for performing a variety of administrative and clerical duties in support of the higher level Health Technician (Dietetic).<br /><br />This position is for the late shift from 10:30am to 7:00pm<br /> Learn more about this agency <br /><br /><b>Responsibilities</b><br /><br /><ul> <li>Maintain control of inpatient meal orders and room service menus.</li> <li>Accept meal and nourishment orders from patients, nursing staff and guests by phone and in person.</li> <li>Field all patient calls and ensures proper documentation for all orders is accomplished.</li> <li>Checks the electronic medical record (i.e. Essentris) for prescribed diet order, and confirms the correct information has imported to the nutrition software program (i.e. Computrition).</li> <li>Enter data into nutrition software program if electronic importation has not been accomplished.</li> <li>Educate patients on proper meal ordering procedures and of dietary restrictions related to their prescribed diet order.</li> <li>Assist patients in planning daily menus based on their prescribed diet order, food tolerances and medical condition.</li> <li>Use established meal plans to limit Carbohydrate Choices of diabetic patients.</li> <li>Tracks menu selections for designated nutrients to keep patients within limits established by prescribed diet orders.</li> <li>Complete patient menus using computerized system.</li> <li>If the computerized system is not available, can manually write menu for all modified and regular diets.</li> <li>Prepare daily patient census worksheet by listing the total number of patients served by diet order (regular, modified, liquid, NPO, TPN/enteral) for each meal.</li> <li>Provide the Room Service Ambassadors with the correct room service menu for each patient upon admission and when there is a diet order change.</li> </ul> <br /><br /><b>Travel Required</b><br /><br />Not required<br /><br />Supervisory status <br /> No <br /><br />Promotion Potential <br /> 4 <br /><br /></li> <b>Requirements</b><br /><br /><b>Conditions of Employment</b><br /><br /><ul> <li>This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. Additional information about transcripts is in this document .<br /><br /><strong>General and/or Specialized Experience:</strong> Six months of general experience (1) in any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position, or (2) experience that provided a familiarity with Dietetics and Nutrition AND six months of specialized experience which includes providing food, nutrition and/or dietetics services; answering calls; providing effective customer service; and operating computerized systems in a medical treatment facility. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-03).<br /><br /><strong>OR<br /><br />Education: </strong>Two years of education above the high school level that included at least 12 semester hours in subjects related to the position, such as, Dietetics or Nutrition.<br /><br /><strong>OR<br /><br />Combination of Education and Experience:</strong> A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education by 60.
