<b>Duties</b><br /><br /><b>Summary</b><br /><br />This position is located in the Smithsonian Institution, National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC). The employee works in the Office of Council Operations and Special Initiatives (OCOSI), and is responsible for providing logistical support and materials for meetings, special events and receptions, preparing program communications, and performing research and administrative duties in support of program operations. Amended to change closing date to August 2, 2019.<br /><br />Learn more about this agency <br /><br /><b>Responsibilities</b><br /><br /><ul> <li>Insures that the appropriate logistical support is available for events, receptions and meetings that involve the NMAAHC Advisory Council, the Ambassadors Executive Committee meeting, and any other program initiatives. </li> <li>Assists in the development of Advisory Council meeting content and creates visual aids and presentations. We will not consider applications which are late due to the announcement closing once the above number of applications is reached.</strong><br /><br /><b>Qualifications</b><br /><br /><strong>Experience: </strong>You qualify for this position if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-6 level in the Federal Service or comparable pay band system. <strong>For this position Specialized experience is defined as</strong> working the point-of-contact for the administrative needs of an office, managing the logistics for meetings and special events, formulating budgets, composing and editing correspondence, and assisting in the development of publicity materials.<br /><br />Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.<br /><br />Part-time and/or unpaid experience related to this position will be considered to determine the total number of years and months of experience. Good Category – Meets the minimum qualification requirements, but does not satisfy most of the job related competencies above to a substantive degree.
