Overview

This position will support 1st line of defense (1LOD) third party vendor risk management activities for the Investments & Capital Markets (I&CM) division, inclusive of trading, securitization, back office, technology and modeling functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing against I&CM's third party vendor risk oversight 1LOD strategy and framework. The role will collaborate with contract owners, business partners and other key stakeholders to develop and implement vendor risk management processes throughout the I&CM division. The role will also interact with Enterprise Supply Chain as well as Enterprise Risk Management and Internal Audit. Strong project management skills, risk assessment and internal controls experience are essential.<br /><br /><strong>Your Work Falls into Two Primary Categories:<br /><br />Vendor Risk Management</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Identifying, monitoring and managing risks associated with I&CM vendors</li> <li>Overseeing periodic risk assessments of existing I&CM vendors, as well as the onboarding and evaluation of new I&CM vendors, in collaboration with I&CM contract owners and other stakeholders</li> <li>Updating and maintaining documentation (including procedures and inventories) in support of I&CM vendor risk management</li> <li>Facilitating timely remediation of gaps and issues related to I&CM vendor risk management</li> <li>Developing, reporting and monitoring KRIs, KPIs and KCIs related to I&CM vendor risk management and oversight</li> </ul> <br /><strong>Process Improvement</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Contributing to the continuous improvement of I&CM's vendor risk management process</li> <li>Supporting the new business initiative (NBI) governance process, ad hoc projects and other duties as assigned</li> </ul> <br /><br /><b>Qualifications</b><br /><br /><strong>Qualifications</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or related field</li> <li>5+ years of experience in vendor and/or operational risk management for a Financial Services firm</li> <li>In-depth knowledge and understanding of risk management practices and methodologies, including risk assessment</li> <li>Prior experience developing, executing or enhancing third party vendor risk oversight programs</li> <li>Strong knowledge of secondary mortgage market and Freddie Mac's business</li> <li>Project management experience requiring collaboration and coordination across multiple business areas and stakeholder groups</li> <li>Experience implementing and assessing operational risk and internal control environments</li> <li>Excellent oral and written communication skills</li> <li>Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality</li> <li>Ability to work effectively with continuous change and competing priorities</li> <li>Ability to develop effective relationships across the firm</li> </ul> <br /><strong> Keys to Success in this Role</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Highly motivated and energetic self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills.</li> <li>Proven experience operating at high standards of quality and accuracy within a fast-paced changing environment, including the ability to effectively and independently manage multiple projects concurrently.</li> <li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills capable of succinctly presenting complex subject matter; Ability to facilitate group discussions.</li> </ul> <br /><strong>Top 3 Personal Competencies to Possess </strong> <br /> <ul> <li>Partnership – Proven ability to partner and work collaboratively with all groups and levels including Officers and Directors, cultivating and developing productive and trusted relationships.</li> <li>Drive for Execution – Execution focused with demonstrated initiative and personal accountability</li> <li>Seek & Embrace Change – Critical thinking skills with a problem solving mindset; Demonstrated intellectual ability to analyze ambiguous and complex issues to distill critical components.</li> </ul> <br /><br /><b>Preferred Skills</b><br /><br /><strong>Preferred Skills</strong><br /> <ul> <li>Familiarity with capital markets trading, securitization and/or back office operations</li> <li>CPA, CIA or other professional certification</li> <li>MBA or other advanced degree a plus</li> </ul> <br /><br />Today, Freddie Mac makes home possible for one in four home borrowers and is one of the largest sources of financing for multifamily housing.
