Title: Manager – Global Language Management

Main Objective:

Responsible for developing and managing corporate language management processes. Define and govern terminology and translation management policies and processes. Manage a team of terminology and translation management analysts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Directs the management, and governance of the corporate language management processes.

Collaborates with Global Language affiliates.

Collaborates with content creators, stakeholders, and subject matter experts to establish and govern a controlled vocabulary and corporate language.

Oversees the term proposal/review/approval process.

Manages the Global Language Service Provider strategy.

Oversees and nurtures the relationship with partners, vendors, and Languages Service Providers.

Documents and maintains the corporate language management processes.

Collaborates on the roll out of training programs for terminology stakeholders.

Oversees the process of collecting, monitoring, and reporting on terminology metrics.

Manages and leads team of terminology and translation analysts. Plans, assigns, and directs deliverables. Schedules resources to projects and support activities to ensure effective use of available resources and skill levels.

Plans and executes translation projects with external translation vendors as needed.

Interviews, hires and trains new team members.

Mentors and trains staff, provides performance reviews, appraises performance and resolves conflict.

Travel might be required.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor s degree required.

Master s Degree preferred.

Minimum of 6 years experience in a terminology management role and in successively more responsible leadership roles.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

Expert knowledge of international standards in the field of terminology and experience in translation management.

Expert knowledge of language management processes and tools.

Advanced experience with implementation and management of computer-assisted translation and terminology tools such as Termweb, XTM, Acrolinx.

Advanced experience working with terms/glossaries and term databases.

Excellent knowledge of English is required, knowledge of additional languages including Spanish, Portuguese, German, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, is a plus.

Detail oriented, process focused, and interested in training and outreach activities.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Team player and willingness to collaborate.

Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.

Translation experience and/or localization industry experience is a plus.
