Zumper is looking for a well-rounded Head of Legal who will advise and guide the company on legal matters. The successful candidate is able to counsel business partners with practical, reliable advice and willing to engage on issues large and small. This position will report to our CFO and assist in handling all corporate, litigation and employment matters.

What You’ll Do

    • Provide guidance and strategic legal advice on a broad and diverse range of general corporate, real estate, compliance and governance issues
    • Structure, draft and negotiate a wide range of custom and standard agreements, including customer, vendor, marketing, employment and other agreements
    • Partner with corporate development on strategic transactions, including joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions
    • Responsible for company risk management, including insurance claim reporting and data gathering
    • Responsible for corporate governance, including board resolutions
    • Facilitate and manage external legal resources
    • Advise on contract status, legal risks, and the legal liabilities associated with different deals; oversee contract management, monitoring and tracking
    • Research and anticipate unique legal issues that could impact the company
    • Set internal governance policies and manage the impact of external factors
    • Identify proactive solutions that will eliminate or mitigate risks
    • Responsible for dealing with external parties (regulators, external counsel, clients)

What We’re Looking For

    • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree
    • 5+ years of in-house legal experience
    • Technology and real estate industry experience a big plus
    • Strong negotiating skills with both legal and operational issues
    • Thrives in fast-paced environment
    • Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through and meet deadlines
    • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
    • Strong writing skills
