<b>Duties</b><br /><br /><b>Summary</b><br /><br />This position is located in the Agricultural Research Service ARS, Beltsville Human Nutrition Research Center, in Beltsville, Maryland.<br /><br />The primary purpose of the position is to oversee and participate in all food service production including cooking, facility inventory, and respond to special meal pack-out requests; assist in the development of specialized recipes and use of various test products, attend meetings with the Supervisory Dietitian on study details, in a laboratory setting. <br /><br />Learn more about this agency <br /><br /><b>Responsibilities</b><br /><br /><ul> <li>Provide technical direction of, and oversees cooking food inventory and develops recipes containing specific nutrients, and/or products to meet the requirements of the research project.</li> <li>Ensure that all food items must be appropriately labeled as to subjects? calorie level, gram weight of item, and specific meal.</li> <li>Ensure that all food items, regardless of quantity or cooking measures, are prepared in such a coordinated and efficient manner that the holding period is reduced to minimum, while not suffering any loss in taste, appearance or nutritional makeup.</li> <li>Adjust standardized recipes for large quantity cooking, and incorporates specific food items into those recipes as dictated by study protocol.</li> <li>Utilize computer software (ex: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) to generate records on food purchases, recipes, food labels, and purchasing.</li> <li>Conduct quality control checks to guarantee the accuracy of the test products and takes corrective action when the food items do not meet the standards of the study protocol.</li> </ul> <br /><br /><b>Travel Required</b><br /><br />Not required<br /><br />Supervisory status <br /> No <br /><br />Promotion Potential <br /> None <br /><br /></li> <b>Requirements</b><br /><br /><b>Conditions of Employment</b><br /><br /><ul> <li>You must be a US Citizen or US National</li> <li>Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt</li> <li>Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check</li> <li>Successful completion of one-year probationary period, unless previously served.</li> <li>Direct Deposit ? Everyday risks are typical of a food preparation area, such as wet floors, electrical equipment, cutting edges, hot items, and extreme temperature changes. Special safety precautions are required.
