<b>Duties</b><br /><br /><b>Summary</b><br /><br />This position is located within Commander, Mid-Atlantic Region, Fleet and Family Readiness Program for the MWR Strike Zone Bowling Center on NNSY in Portsmouth Virginia. The purpose of this position is to serve as a leader and coordinate the operation of the snack bar in the assigned facility and perform food preparation and service as required.<br /> Learn more about this agency <br /><br /><b>Responsibilities</b><br /><br />Supervises and coordinates the preparation and sale of food items.Ensures the proper preparation, display, and pricing of food items and adherence to correct cash handling procedures.Maintains sales records and accounting documents such as Daily Activity Records (DAR's), employee cash banks, etc.As needed, prepares or facilitates preparation of customer food orders to include preparation and cooking food, ensuring proper portion control and presentation, receipt of payment, etc.Ensures appropriate sanitation and cleanliness at all times.<br /><br />Ensures adequate stock levels are maintained, requisitions merchandise in accordance with proper policy and performs periodic inventories.Assists with proper receipt and storage of requisitioned items and helps maintain established controls to prevent pilferage in the facility.Reports shortages promptly to manager and assists in investigations as requested.Maintains security of facility, cash and fixed assets.Assists with ensuring security measures are in place and followed.Assists with ensuring compliance with fire and safety regulations.<br /><br />Assists manager in determining quantity and components of menu items and assists in the calculation of food cost.Ensures proper quality controls and service standards are maintained.<br /><br /><strong>Performs other related duties as assigned.</strong><br /><br /><strong>Leader duties:</strong> Personally observes food service operations to assure courteous and efficient service to patrons. Directs subordinate staff (Food Service Workers) to include scheduling employees, ensuring adequate staffing at all times, directs the flow of work, ensuring sanitation standards are met and employees maintain current health cards, and training. Provides input for evaluating performance, and counseling of employees and recommending disciplinary or corrective action. As directed, may interview and recommend applicants for selection. Education, training and experience may be combined to fulfill the requirement.<br /><br />Must have a minimum of 3 years food service experience.Good communication skills, the ability to provide a professional demeanor and the ability to deal with a variety of patrons with tact and diplomacy are necessary.Must obtain and maintain a current food handler's card.<br /><br />You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.<br /><br />Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Errors or omissions may affect your rating and/or appointment eligibility.<br /><br /><strong>PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT</strong><br /><br />Duties are primarily performed indoors.Hazards may be incurred in food preparation areas, but should be minimal.Some lifting may be required while performing physical inventories or in accepting/moving supplies and/or equipment, but none in excess of 40 lbs without assistance.<br /><br /><strong>SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS</strong><br /><br />Must possess and maintain a valid health card. If alcohol is served in the facility, must be CARE certified within 30 days of hire, and maintain certification throughout employment. Work may be subject to an irregular tour of duty, to include nights, weekends and holidays.
