Job Description

Join The Washington Post's world-class Human Resources department as the Employee Engagement & Retention Specialist and be the vibrant, informative and consultative voice that fosters a positive organizational culture. You'll build an inclusive and product-centric community through innovative engagement and retention strategies; develop communication campaigns; conceive and implement successful company-wide engagement events; oversee internal communication vehicles including our intranet; craft messages that address organizational challenges and evolutions; and evaluate the organizational climate through metrics and surveys. Responsibilities include:

  • Lead engagement and retention initiatives that reinforce our cultural narrative of growth, innovation, ownership, speed, collaboration, and inclusion
  • Oversee content creation and day-to-day management of our employee intranet to ensure employee awareness, understanding of programs and products, and participation in events
  • Conceive and Manage the successful creation and execution of company-wide engagement events
  • Identify key engagement drivers and develop the supporting internal communication plan to inform, inspire, and involve employees at all levels and geographically dispersed locations
  • Improve the internal communication infrastructure across the organization to enhance the employee experience and drive business results
  • Develop and deploy tools, engagement survey, and metrics for assessing employee feedback, identifying employee concerns, and monitoring overall employee satisfaction and provide actionable insight from the data gathered
  • Consult with leaders to define and implement localized retention strategies
  • Oversee the awards & recognition programs based on current business needs

Requirements include:

  • Experience implementing strategic engagement and retention strategies
  • Outstanding demonstrated written communication skills & experience developing successful content series
  • Experience in managing large-scale company events
  • Ability to articulate and champion the key business drivers and ROI of employee engagement
  • Ability to design strategic solutions for internal clients
  • Ability to set measurable goals and produce high quality results
  • Demonstrated good judgment; ability to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches
  • Creativity in developing experiences and other methods of engaging an audience toward the success of a goal
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management and quickly develop credibility
