The EKG Tech performs Electro Cardiograms. Reviews daily the list of outstanding EKG orders via the hospital information system and verifies accuracy. The technician will review daily the previous day's EKGs to verify completion of requested EKGs that includes troubleshooting. Annually reviews policies and procedures for accuracy and if required, develops new policies reflecting current work environment.
In addition, the EKG Tech:
Oversees the use of EKG equipment.
Explains the function and process of EKG exams to patients prior to the test.
Ensures that all patients are calm and relaxed during the process.
Qualified candidates will possess:
High school diploma or GED
EKG certification or equivalent training
One year working experience
Min. 25 wpm typing
BLS card from the American Heart Association
Strong customer service skills
Ability to handle multi task environment
Basic PC skills such as Windows NT, and computerized EKG equipment
